I'm in the process of switching to an AM5 setup once my new motherboard arrives. Currently, I'm using a Cooler Master Hyper 212 ARGB Black but I'm having a tough time finding solid information on whether it's compatible with AM5. I've looked everywhere online but it seems like this cooler is nowhere to be found. I bought my PC prebuilt about two years ago, and even the original site I bought it from doesn't have it listed. The motherboard is set to arrive in about two weeks, so if worse comes to worst, I'll need to buy a new cooler. However, I'd love to know if my current one can be used. I found one site with the cooler listed, but the design didn't match up completely, which just adds to my confusion.

The Hyper 212 series typically has the same mounting hardware across different models, so if it fit on AM4, it should also fit on AM5. What CPU platform are you moving from?
Are you sure it's not the H401R model from Cooler Master? Mine is LGA1700 compatible but came with different mounting hardware. Just checking!
Nope, that's not it. But honestly, now that I know it'll fit on my new AM5 CPU, I'm less worried about it.
I upgraded from AM4 to AM5 and used the same bracket without issues. It worked fine! I have a 360mm EK Nucleus rad, though, so it might vary for you.
If AM4 and AM5 use the same bracket, why do manufacturers specify whether coolers fit AM4 or AM5 or both?
Just a heads up, I wouldn't recommend using a 212 series cooler on anything hotter than a 65W CPU. What AM5 chip are you planning to get?
Yeah, AM4 and AM5 share the same cooler socket, so if it worked with AM4, you should be fine with AM5. It's a good sign!
That's great to hear! But why do some coolers specify 'only for AM4'? Is it just because they were released before AM5 existed?

Right now it's AM4, but I'm upgrading to AM5. I noticed differences in design and specs; my cooler has an RPM range of 650-1800, while the standard Hyper 212 seems to be higher.
