I'm having trouble logging into my Apple account that's connected to my email. Even though I've reset my password, I can't answer the security questions because they don't seem familiar, plus I can't change them. To make things worse, the email I received to reset my password referred to me by a first name I don't recognize, even though my last name was correct, and no one I know has that first name. I have both my email and password for this account—any ideas on how I could either regain access or delete the account altogether? Alternatively, can I create a new account using the same email? I've tried reaching out to Apple support, but they weren't helpful. I just want this account to access Apple Music but I'm on Android.

Honestly, if you’re locked out and can’t pass the security questions, your best bet might be just to set up a completely new Apple account. Use a password manager to keep track of it and enable two-factor authentication this time around. That should help prevent any future issues. But yeah, sorry about your current situation—it really sucks!
It sounds like your account might have been hacked, especially since it’s not secured with two-step verification or two-factor authentication. Unfortunately, you won't be able to delete the account without logging in first. Also, you can't create a new Apple account with the same email address, so that's a bit tricky. I'd suggest trying to recover your account directly through Apple’s support channels, but make sure to mention all the details you shared here.
Got any advice on how to contact them effectively?

I do know my password, though. Does that help at all?
