Help with Overheating CPU on New PC Build

Hey everyone, I just bought a new PC and I've run into some issues with my motherboard and processor. It seems like my motherboard isn't managing my processor's power correctly, causing it to hit a whopping 1000 watts while gaming. This is likely due to the long duration package power limit (pl1 and pl2) being set too high at 253 watts each for 56 seconds, which is making my CPU run really hot—often reaching 90°C and sometimes even spiking to 100°C. I have a custom water cooling setup, and it's frustrating to see my new components struggle like this.

I've adjusted the wattage, which helps lower the temperature during games, but I still don't feel like I'm getting the performance I should be. It just doesn't feel smooth. I know I need to tweak the voltages, but I can't seem to find the right settings on my ASUS TUF H770 Pro WiFi motherboard. I'd appreciate any tips or settings to help me resolve this problem! Thanks in advance!

It sounds like you've got a classic overheating issue there! First off, make sure you're running the latest firmware on your motherboard. If your BIOS isn’t up to date, that could be causing your CPU to not perform as it should. Also, check your cooling system—make sure everything is installed correctly and that your thermal paste is applied properly. Even new parts can sometimes have a bit of a setup issue!

Exactly! New components are great, but don’t forget about the firmware. Sometimes manufacturers release updates that can really improve performance and stability.

I'll check the BIOS updates—thanks for the reminder! I overlooked that.

Totally possible! Sometimes it seems like you’ve got the latest hardware, but if the BIOS isn't current or drivers aren’t updated, it can cause performance hiccups. Make sure you've got all the latest drivers for your graphics card and chipset, too. It's usually a good idea to download them directly from the manufacturer's website instead of relying on what's on the disc or default installations.
