I currently have an i5 6600 and I've just purchased a GTX 1080. What would be the best CPU upgrade for me?

However, keep in mind that this platform is quite old at over 10 years, so it's probably not worth sinking more money into it. Instead, I suggest considering a Ryzen-based setup on an AM4 platform. If you're on a budget, a Ryzen 5 3600 paired with a B550 motherboard would be a good choice. Alternatively, if you're looking to stick with Intel, an i5-12400F on an LGA 1700 motherboard like the B660 or B760 would also work well with DDR4 memory. Yeah, but I think the original poster might be limited to DDR4 2133 or 2400, which could really hold back newer CPUs like the Ryzen 2 or 3 if that's the case.
