Can I Move My M.2 Drive to a New PC Without Issues?

I'm looking to transfer a 2TB M.2 drive from my old PC to a new one. The old PC is running Windows 10 and has two M.2 drives (one for the OS and the other for storage). The new PC, powered by Windows 11, has its own boot drive already set up. This transfer is specifically for the storage drive that contains some of my Steam games and personal photos. Is it as simple as unplugging the drive from the old PC and plugging it into the new one? Are there any important things I should be aware of during this process?

You might need the BitLocker key if you had that enabled on the drive. Make sure to keep that handy just in case!

When you get the drive into the new PC, you'll have to point Steam to the new library location, especially if you have games installed. Some games might need reinstallation if they don't recognize the files right away, but usually it’s a smooth transfer.

Yes, you can definitely transfer your 2TB M.2 drive! Once you move it, just remember to set the new location for your Steam library on the new PC. It’s pretty straightforward, like plug and play! Just don’t forget to check for a heatsink if there was one on the original drive.
