What Should I Upgrade First for Better Gaming and Streaming Performance?

I'm new to PC building and need some advice on upgrading my system, which was built for me a while back. My main goal is to improve gaming performance and streaming to my VR headset using Sunshine/Moonlight, ideally achieving around 120 FPS with low latency. I think the graphics card is the key component to upgrade first, but I'm aware that modern GPUs might require other parts, like the motherboard, to be upgraded as well. I currently have 32GB of RAM, which I hope is enough, and I'm trying to figure out what upgrades are necessary since I can't even identify my current motherboard from the specs. Here's my setup:

- Processor: Intel Core i7-5820K @ 3.30GHz
- RAM: 32GB
- Storage: 1.82TB HDD and 233GB SSD
- Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (8GB)
- OS: Windows 10, but willing to upgrade to 11 if necessary.

Also, my budget is around $1,000 unless there's a compelling reason to spend more. Thanks in advance for any insights!

Honestly, your CPU is quite outdated and might be bottlenecking your current GPU. Upgrading just the graphics card might not give you the performance boost you're looking for. I recommend considering a full system upgrade instead of just the GPU. If you're serious about gaming and 3D rendering in Blender, look for a combo that includes a newer CPU and GPU. Aim for something like an AMD Ryzen 5 or Intel i7 paired with a strong NVIDIA 30-series card. It'll make a big difference!

Got it! Thanks for the heads up. Do you have any specific recommendations for a CPU/GPU combo that would work well together?
