Considering Trying Out Linux on a New Laptop

I'm mostly a Windows user, but I'm thinking about mixing things up and learning Linux. I'm looking at getting a 'burner' laptop with 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. Is it true that Linux can run on pretty much anything? Do you think this setup will work smoothly?

Jumping into Linux is a fantastic idea! I remember when I switched from Windows over 20 years ago, and it was an eye-opener. Your laptop sounds great for getting started. Just ensure you have a decent processor; I've run Linux fine on an i5 with 8GB. And don’t stress too much if you run into minor hiccups—it’s all part of the learning experience! Enjoy exploring!
