What Should I Do When My PC Is Delivered in Freezing Weather?

Hey everyone! I'm getting my new PC delivered today and it's supposed to be around 20°F outside. I'm a bit anxious about ensuring it's safe to use once it arrives. I'm particularly concerned about letting it warm up to room temperature properly and making sure there's no condensation after being in a cold delivery truck for a while. I don't really want to wait a full 24 hours just letting it sit in the box. I was thinking of leaving it in the box for about 30 minutes, then opening it up, taking the side panel off, and using a fan on it for maybe 1 to 2 hours while checking for any moisture. Does this sound excessive or even necessary? Thanks in advance for any tips!

I’d just point a fan at it for around 30 minutes after unboxing. Make sure to take off both side panels to help it reach room temperature quicker. If you have a dehumidifier, running it in the room wouldn’t hurt, but it’s probably not necessary.

The amount of condensation should be minimal in the winter months. I recommend unboxing it and leaving it out for an hour. If you’re really worried, take some time to check everything over. Just so you know, don't rush into turning it on right away.

You should really just give it time to warm up before powering it on — about 45 minutes to an hour should do it. Just handle it carefully and let the air in the room do the job.

You’re definitely overthinking this! Unless you’re unpacking it in a steam room, it should be fine. Just take it out and let it sit for an hour or so — that’s more than enough time for it to warm up without any condensation issues.

Honestly, it’s not that complicated. Just let it sit in your living room for about an hour after unboxing it. It’s coming from a cold, dry place to a warm, dry place — moisture shouldn't be a big concern. I've carried PCs in much colder weather and it's always been fine.
