Will my 5700G bottleneck a 5070 Ti at 1440p?

I'm currently using a 5700G combined with a 3060, and I had initially planned to build a completely new PC by 2026. However, with RAM prices being what they are, it looks like I'm stuck on the AM4 platform for now. I'm considering buying the 5070 Ti GPU I want, but I know the CPU will bottleneck at some point. I'd like to know how significant this bottleneck might be at 1440p, especially in terms of gaming performance. Also, should I think about upgrading to a 5700X or even a 5700X3D if a good deal comes along?

It really depends on the game you're playing. The 5700G is approximately equivalent to a 3700X, which could lead to a 10-30% bottleneck. Upgrading to a 5700X or 5800X3D would be advantageous for better performance. Since you plan to switch to AM5 later, it might be wise to avoid overspending on the current setup.

Generally, you won't experience severe bottlenecking, so gameplay should remain smooth. While the 5700X or 5800X would definitely boost performance, you don't need to rush into an upgrade right away. You can adjust your game quality settings to make better use of the GPU while minimizing the CPU strain.

Severe bottlenecking isn't expected, but there might be some CPU-related limitations in specific games, especially those that are CPU-heavy. In terms of gaming overall, your GPU will do a great job at 1440p with just a few exceptions where the CPU could hold back performance.

Right now is a great time to pick up a GPU as prices might rise soon. There will definitely be some bottlenecking, but its severity will vary based on the game and your resolution. For instance, if you're playing a CPU-intensive game at 1080p, the bottleneck could be more pronounced. However, sticking to a higher resolution can help alleviate that. If the bottleneck does concern you, switching to a Ryzen 5600 CPU could mitigate it quite a bit.

In general, expect some CPU limits, especially with demanding titles at 1440p. But overall, your setup should remain fairly balanced for most games at that resolution. If frame rates are an issue, consider alterations to your gameplay settings. Buying the GPU now might be a good idea before potential price hikes!
