How Can I Diagnose My Computer’s CPU and GPU Problems?

I've been having some serious issues with my computer lately. It turned off unexpectedly just before Christmas and now it won't turn back on. I built it in 2015, but I upgraded the motherboard and processor last year with an MSI B450 Gaming Pro Max and a Ryzen 5600G. Recently, I installed a new MSI B550 Tomahawk Max WiFi motherboard and a Thermaltake 850W PSU along with a surge protector, and everything was running smoothly for about a week. I was even playing ICARUS with the GPU at 100%, and temps were fine, reaching only low 60s C.

But out of nowhere, while I was just browsing with a few tabs open, the screen went dark. I've tried all sorts of troubleshooting steps like swapping outlets, resetting the CMOS, unplugging everything and trying to start it barebones, and reseating the RAM, but nothing's working. The PSU seems fine since I got good multimeter readings, and the fan runs when I short it, but it doesn't spin when connected to the motherboard.

I don't do any overclocking, and I'm considering exchanging the motherboard and maybe even buying a new case to rule out other issues. I checked the CPU pins and they look fine, and I haven't opened the GPU yet. My husband's computer, which is on the same circuit but different outlet, is working without a hitch. I'm stumped and would love any advice on how to check my remaining hardware. It's frustrating since I've been building PCs since 2000, and I've never had parts fail on me, let alone two motherboards so close together! Maybe I was overconfident after fixing my printer and something bad happened?

What spare parts do you have access to? It could help to try swapping out the CPU, GPU, RAM, or even the power supply if you can, as long as they're compatible. You don't need the latest parts, just anything that fits!

Unfortunately, my husband gets rid of old parts as soon as I’m not looking. It’s such a bummer because I would love to test something quickly!

Have you checked for any error codes or lights on the motherboard? Sometimes there are indicators that can point you in the right direction. If you can, testing your husband's GPU in your setup could help determine if that's the issue.

No lights or sounds, it's completely dead. I even tried just powering it with the CPU and nothing happened. Plus, my husband doesn't keep old parts around, so I can't borrow any of his, and he's not really keen on me messing with his setup right now.
