Can I Hibernate Only One User at a Time on Linux?

I'm planning to switch from Windows to Linux and I've been thinking about how I used to hibernate my system for a quick restart of my work. In Windows, I liked to keep my work and play organized by creating separate user accounts for both activities. This way, I could easily focus on my tasks without distractions.

I'm wondering if it's possible to hibernate just one user at a time in Linux. My idea is to hibernate my 'hobby' user while I'm working, so I can make sure my current active user has all the available RAM and computing power. If hibernation isn't the best option for this situation, I'd appreciate any alternative solutions or suggestions from those who might have faced a similar challenge! 🙂

Unfortunately, hibernating just one user at a time isn’t really possible with Linux. The system hibernates as a whole, so all users need to go along for the ride. You might want to look into alternative methods for managing your user sessions instead.
