Why Won’t CS:GO Load on My Linux Laptop?

I recently installed Steam and CS:GO on my Linux laptop running Pop!_OS, but I'm having trouble getting CS:GO to load. It only shows the Valve logo before crashing. Other games run fine, even though they're not specifically designed for Linux and are being played through Proton. I'm wondering if it could be a driver issue since I have an NVIDIA GPU. Any advice would be appreciated!

You might want to check the Proton compatibility for CS:GO on ProtonDB. It's a great resource for troubleshooting issues with games running on Linux. There, you can find tip and tricks shared by other users who faced similar issues.

Just a heads up that not all games run perfectly on every Linux distribution due to the varying support for different libraries and drivers. I noticed that Pop!_OS only has about 1.64% usage among Steam users for games, which might mean that certain titles might need a little more tweaking to work correctly. If all else fails, you could consider switching to another distro that's more gaming-friendly.

It sounds like a driver issue might indeed be causing the crash. Make sure you have the latest NVIDIA drivers installed for your GPU. You can typically install them from the Pop!_OS settings or via the terminal. Also, check ProtonDB for any specific tweaks or settings for CS:GO that might help it run smoother on your system.
