I'm thinking about switching to Linux but I'm concerned about finding a good alternative to Adobe InDesign. I've managed to run some Windows applications like games without issues, but I would prefer to stick with native publishing software. I've been feeling a bit lost since I moved away from Adobe products. Are there any solid options, or will I likely need to use a Windows version?

Scribus is the main alternative I've seen, but it can be a bit clunky, even for someone like me who tolerates subpar user experiences. Inkscape could potentially work in a pinch, but it’s not really designed for multi-page layouts. There’s also VivaDesigner, which is professional level and supports Linux, but it’s pretty expensive. If you can’t find anything suitable, you might have luck using Wine to run InDesign since it’s improved quite a bit! If you discover any good options, I’d love to hear about them too!
If you need to collaborate with others who use standard software, sticking to proprietary options might be your best bet. Running a virtual machine could be a good compromise if that’s the case.
I'm not into desktop publishing, but you can check out alternatives on this site: https://alternativeto.net/software/adobe-indesign/. You might find something that fits your needs.
Scribus seems to be the best alternative if you're looking for something similar to InDesign. I've heard it compares quite well, even though I haven’t tried InDesign personally.
I’ve used Scribus before for fanzines, and while print might not be as relevant anymore, I still find it handy for creating convention materials and advertisements.
