I'm looking for an open-source application that can connect via Windows Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) and provides a tabbed interface along with some additional features compared to the standard Microsoft Remote Desktop client (mstsc). Any recommendations?

I've been using RD Tabs for years at my workplace, and it’s completely free and works really well!
If you're okay with a paid option, RoyalTS is pretty solid. It offers tabs and supports various remote connection plugins. I have used the Mac version but there's also a Windows one available.
You could also consider Remote Desktop Connection Manager (RDCMan). While it doesn't have tabs, it does feature a sidebar and icon area, and it's a free tool from Microsoft. Just keep in mind it has a slightly older interface.
You should definitely check out Remote Desktop Manager by Devolutions. It has a lot of connectivity options beyond just RDP, and I find the free version handles everything I need. It's definitely worth a look!
Just so you know, it's not open source, but it really is the top choice out there.
MRemoteNG is another great pick! It's free and I love that it supports multiple protocols like VNC and PuTTY. Setup is a breeze since it syncs changes made directly in PuTTY too.
Another vote for MRemoteNG!
This is the one I’m using, and I'm pretty happy with it.

This is the best option for sure!
