Should I Upgrade to a Ryzen 5 5600G for Gaming?

Hey everyone! I've got an Intel i7 8700K, paired with a Ryzen 7600XT and currently 16GB of 2400MHz RAM (I have another 16GB on the way for just €35 during this crazy RAM sale). I usually play Rust at 1080p, and while my FPS is decent (over 60), I'm struggling with terrible 1% and 0.1% lows. I'm thinking the older CPU might be bottlenecking my GPU, plus the game's optimization isn't the best. I came across a great deal for a Ryzen 5 5600G and an Asus TUF Gaming A520M-Plus motherboard, but I'm unsure if this upgrade will really make a significant difference in my gaming experience. What do you all think?

The i7 8700K is still a pretty solid processor, but Rust can be really tough on frame times. Upgrading to the 5600G might improve those lows a bit, but honestly, you'd likely see better performance from faster RAM first. That 2400MHz is quite low, especially for Ryzen systems. Also, the A520 chipset isn't the best choice; if possible, look for a B450 board instead, which should offer better value.

True, if you’re on a non-Z370 or Z390 board, you might be stuck at 2666MHz RAM, which isn't a huge upgrade over your current speed.

Thanks for the tips! If the difference isn’t major, I might hold off on the upgrade.
