I'm working on my first PC build and I've come across different opinions on whether I should test the motherboard outside of the case before installing it. I've seen some people recommend it but I'm not sure if it's a standard practice or needed. Any tips or advice would be appreciated!

I always run the PC outside the case first to check that everything's functioning. Just install the CPU, RAM, GPU, and cooler, then power it up. Use the motherboard box as a temporary platform if you like! It's super useful to know that it works before the final assembly.
It feels safer to have it installed in the case, but if you ever need to pull it out for testing, it’s usually pretty quick to do. It's all about whatever makes you feel comfortable!
You can do it either way, but it’s usually easier to troubleshoot if something doesn’t work when it’s out of the case. Just don’t forget to keep the CPU cooler on while testing! And I'd suggest investing in an electric screwdriver for quicker assembly.
I like to assemble everything out of the case on a test holder. It makes checking and stress testing much simpler before putting it all into a case. Once it works well externally, I do a final assembly in the case and retest everything.
Since this is your first build, I definitely recommend testing the motherboard outside the case. Just lay it on the box it came in, plug everything in, and see if it boots up. It’s a great way to ensure everything is working before you put it in the case.
