I recently received an RX 9060XT for Christmas and I'm looking to upgrade from my old R5 1600. The 3700X and 5700X seem to be the best AM4 CPUs under $300. While I know the 5700X has better specs since it's Zen 3, I'm wondering if that extra $55 is worth it. Also, I'll be doing some video editing and gaming, specifically with titles like Spider-Man 2 and F1 25. Any advice would be appreciated!

If your budget allows, I'd suggest considering the Ryzen 5800XT instead. It's generally around $200 and offers performance that's ahead of both the 5700X and 3700X.
Definitely go for the 5700X! It's a substantial upgrade over the 3700X, especially for gaming. If you're flexible with your budget, you might even find some good deals on used 5900Xs, which would be an excellent choice for gaming as well.
The 5700X is the way to go! The performance jump over the 3700X is noticeable. Plus, for gaming and video editing, you'll benefit from the extra cores, which help with rendering times.
Honestly, it's worth spending a little more to get the 5700X or even going for the 5800X. You'll notice a significant difference in performance compared to the 3700X, especially when video editing and gaming.
If you’re considering the 5700X, don’t overlook the 5600 as well. It’s cheaper and still outperforms the 3700X in gaming and even handles multithreaded tasks well. Just keep an eye on what games you play; eight-core usage is growing, but a six-core still handles most games well for now.

That makes sense! I appreciate the insight about the cores; I'll definitely consider the 5600.
