I'm using an X470 motherboard, which allows me to upgrade to a 5th gen CPU. I'm considering picking up a second-hand Ryzen 5 5600X and also getting a budget-friendly dual-channel 3200 MHz RAM kit to expand my setup to 32 GB. Since I mainly play indie games, League of Legends, and other non-GPU-heavy titles, I want to ensure this setup will still run 144Hz at 1080p for as long as possible. I have two questions: is there any downside to adding another pair of RAM sticks? And is upgrading from a 2600 to a 5600X significant enough to justify the switch?

Finding a cheap dual-channel 3200 MHz RAM kit in 2026 might be a challenge. You might need to adjust your expectations here!
Sounds like a solid plan! Just double-check that your motherboard's BIOS can support the 5000-series CPUs before making the upgrade.

Yeah, but second-hand options could still be available. Just gotta keep an eye out!
