Is It Time to Upgrade My PSU with a New GPU?

I'm excited to upgrade my PC after wanting to do it for a long time! Right now, I have an Intel Core i5-10400F with a 1660 Ti GPU, and I'm looking to switch to a 5060 Ti with 8GB. While I'm considering this, I've heard some not-so-great things about my current power supply, a Gamemax GE-700W. It's made me wonder if I should also invest in a new PSU, like the Asus TUF Gaming 750W 80 Plus Bronze, to support my upgrade. I run a dual monitor setup with a Samsung Odyssey G50A 32'' at 1440p and a Samsung CRG50 24'' at 1080p. So, my main question is: should I buy a new PSU?

You should definitely swap out your PSU. Given its current quality, it's likely not going to last much longer. If you're considering different GPUs, the AMD Radeon 9060 XT 16GB might be a good option, and it tends to be reasonably priced. Just make sure whatever PSU you get is reliable.

Definitely go for a new PSU if you can afford it! Something like the Montech Century II is a solid choice. And definitely avoid that 8GB 5060 Ti; it's not future-proof for your 1440p setup. Look for at least a 12GB card if you want it to last longer.

A 750W PSU is definitely overkill for your current setup. If your current PSU has been running smoothly so far, you might be okay sticking with it, but be prepared for possible issues down the line, especially if you want to upgrade further. You could double your power draw and still be under 700W, so weigh the risks.

Honestly, Gamemax PSUs have a bad reputation; I've never heard anything good about them. I'd highly recommend upgrading to a quality PSU. Playing it safe is better than dealing with potential failures down the line. Also, consider if you really need the 8GB version of the 5060 Ti; it might not be the best bang for your buck.

I think it's wise to change your PSU, especially since you're eyeing major upgrades. Even if you wait on the GPU, upgrading the PSU can prevent problems later. I recommend a reliable one; spending some extra cash here can save you headaches in the future.
