Is It Worth Upgrading to a New GPU with My Ryzen 5 5500?

I've recently upgraded to a B550 motherboard with a Ryzen 5 5500 processor. I'm currently using a GTX 980 and struggling to play the latest games. I'm considering an upgrade to an RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB of RAM, but I've heard it may not perform well due to my CPU limiting it to PCIe 3.0 at x8 speeds. Given that I need to be mindful of my budget, should I still invest in a new GPU like the 5060 Ti, or would it make more sense to go for a more affordable option like the RTX 5050 or something from AMD? Alternatively, is my current setup too outdated to justify any upgrades? Just to note, I game on a 1080p 144Hz monitor. Any advice would be appreciated!

You probably won't see a massive performance drop with a 16GB GPU on PCIe 3.0 compared to PCIe 5.0, especially for the games currently out there. It's really more of a concern when your GPU runs out of VRAM and has to use system RAM. So, yes, consider upgrading to the RTX 5060 Ti, but keep an eye on cheaper options too if you want to save some cash.

Remember, the 5060 Ti runs at x8, which could limit its performance somewhat.
