Hey everyone! I'm having a bit of an issue and I'm hoping someone can help. I recently got a Sabrent USB 3.2 Type-C enclosure for my M.2 PCIe NVMe SSDs, and I'm trying to pull files from an SSD that I removed from my dead laptop. I followed the setup instructions carefully and even shared some photos of the installation. However, when I connect the enclosure to my computer using USB-C, it keeps making the connect/disconnect sound repeatedly, and the drive doesn't stay connected long enough for me to do anything with it. I've tried different cables, including USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A, and plugged it into various USB ports, but the same problem occurs. Someone suggested using a USB hub to prevent power issues. Do you think that would help? I'm not sure if the enclosure is defective, if I installed something wrong, or if the SSD itself is causing the problem. Any thoughts would be super helpful! Thanks!

Hey there! I can understand your frustration. The constant reconnection might indicate a power issue, which is why some suggested using a USB hub. It can help stabilize the power supply to the enclosure. Also, keep in mind that if the SSD were faulty, it might not power cycle like this; instead, it could just not show up at all. Have you tried any other troubleshooting steps?
It sounds like your enclosure could be defective, especially since you've tried multiple cables and ports without success. The SSD seems installed correctly. If you have access to another working SSD, test it in the enclosure to rule out the SSD being the issue. It's not uncommon for devices to have occasional defects, so don’t lose hope!
Thanks for your input! I’ve tried the enclosure with a different laptop, and the same connect/disconnect issue is happening, so it seems like the enclosure is likely to blame. I'm just bummed because I really need to get my files back from that SSD.

I've tried it with different cables and ports, and even tested on another laptop, but the behavior remains the same. I guess it might be time to look into returning the enclosure if it continues to act up!
