Is it okay to use a screw nut instead of a standoff for an M.2 NVMe drive?

I recently upgraded my PC with an additional NVMe drive, but I ran into a bit of a snag—I couldn't find a standoff screw, so I ended up using a screw nut instead. Right now, the NVMe is functioning fine, and it looks as straight as my other NVMe drive. However, I'm wondering if using a nut is a wise choice for the long haul. Should I look for a proper standoff screw to swap it out?

How exactly did you use the nut?

I just placed it on top of the screw to hold the NVMe down flat against the motherboard.

As long as everything is secure and not twisted or bent, you should be okay. Just keep an eye on it though!

I've done the same thing in one of my setups, and it's been working just fine for years now. No issues at all!
