How Hard is it to Install an Internal SSD in My PC?

I recently bought a gaming PC on sale and I'm loving it, but I've already filled the extra 1TB SSD while experimenting with AI models. I'm wondering about adding another SSD to my setup since I'm running low on space. I've built PCs before, but I haven't worked with SSDs mounted on the motherboard beyond upgrading my PS5. Do you think it would be a complicated process? I'd prefer not to remove the graphics card if I can help it because the cables are positioned nicely right now. Alternatively, I could consider getting an external card reader and two larger drives instead of one if that would be practical for the performance I need with AI applications.

Installing an internal SSD is really straightforward! It's basically a matter of plugging it in and securing it. If you have the right M.2 slots or SATA ports, it's super easy. Most boards even have additional slots for NVMe drives which are faster if speed is your thing.

No worries, it's super easy! Just check your motherboard for available slots. Often it's just opening the side panel, plugging in the NVMe drive, and securing it with a screw. You might need to remove a heatsink if there's one covering the M.2 slots, but that's usually a simple task.

That sounds manageable! Just make sure to keep track of any screws and cables. If your motherboard has the slots, go for the NVMe, as they’re way faster than regular SATA drives.

You definitely want to check your motherboard for free M.2 slots or SATA ports. NVMe drives are the quickest option if you want to load games smoothly. And don't sweat removing the GPU; just unplug the cables carefully. It’s easier than it sounds, just needs a steady hand!

Yeah, pulling the GPU isn't too hard. Just remember how everything is plugged in. I once disconnected everything and had a moment of panic when it wouldn’t turn on because I forgot a switch was off!
