I'm currently using Debian Linux and I'm used to using alt codes on Windows to format text in Minecraft, like coloring text on items or creating fun signs. Unfortunately, Minecraft on Linux doesn't allow me to just paste symbols or text into signs, which would solve my issue. I've heard that Linux doesn't support alt codes like Windows does, but is there an alternative way to achieve similar formatting on Linux? Is there an app that acts like the Windows emoji picker or a resource for keyboard shortcuts that can help with this?

There's also the Unicode method! Just remember that these codes are application-specific, so Minecraft will see them differently compared to other apps. Hopefully, using the methods mentioned should help you get some cool formatting done.
I'm not a Minecraft player, but have you tried using the Compose Key? It might work for you! You can set it up to create custom combos for the formatting characters you need—just check your settings for the keyboard options. If you're using Plasma, it’s pretty easy to set up in the Input & Output settings.
In Linux, unlike on Windows, you won't be able to use traditional "Alt codes" for Minecraft. You'd want to try using the Compose Key for formatting characters like the section symbol (you can do Compose + s + o to get '§'). Alternatively, you can use Ctrl+Shift+U followed by the Unicode value you need, for example, Ctrl+Shift+U 00a7 gives you '§'.
I got the compose key to work, but I still need help with the specific characters I want—mainly block characters like filled squares, rectangles, and triangles. I use them to create big letter signs in Minecraft. Copying and pasting them directly into signs isn't an option.

I think I'm using Gnome, so I’ll check if that's available there!
