Hey everyone! I recently graduated and I'm sharing my parents' router with my brother. We should be getting about 600 Mbps download and 20-30 Mbps upload, which is normally fine. But since he moved his setup to the basement, my Wi-Fi gets super slow whenever he's using his PC. I'm usually just a few steps away from the router, so I'd expect better speeds, right? Lately, I've been getting around 1.06 Mbps download and 0.12 Mbps upload. I've tried changing some settings on my Wi-Fi adapter, and it improved for a short time, but the slow speeds returned. It's only my PC that has this problem when his is on—other devices seem to be working well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

What kind of router do you have? Does it support Quality of Service (QoS)? Also, what settings have you tried changing so far? Are both of you connected via Wi-Fi or using ethernet cables?
Does your brother have anything downloading or uploading in the background, like torrents or big files? Sometimes those can heavily impact your bandwidth.
I checked his background processes and everything looks normal—nothing major is running.

I have a Spectrum router, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't have QoS. I've adjusted my network adapter settings like disabling packet coalescing and changing the preferred band to 5GHz, plus I set his to 2.4GHz since he's in the basement. We're both on Wi-Fi right now, but I’ll be moving to my new apartment in a couple of months, so I'm just looking for a quick fix.
