Hey everyone! I'm 19 and I'm really into tech. I've been working with a K1 3D printer and I'm getting a new one soon. Before diving into 3D printing, I wanted to build my own gaming PC. I previously got an ASUS TUF Dash F15 laptop, but it's been having graphics issues and I think my graphics card is failing. I'm considering building a custom PC instead of just upgrading my laptop.
I'm looking for advice because I need a machine that can handle CAD software and gaming well, something that's a bit better than my laptop. I have a budget of around £200 a month, and I'm fine spending extra on DDR5 RAM even with the current shortages.
My plan is to build something sturdy without RGB or prebuilt options. I trust ASUS TUF products and I'm drawn to the wooden design of the Fractal cases. Here's a rough list of what I'm considering for the build:
- 2TB Kingspec SSD
- ASUS ROG Strix B650E Motherboard
- AMD Ryzen 7800X CPU
- Arctic Freezer 36 Cooler
- Fractal Design North Charcoal Case
- ASUS TUF 5060 Graphics Card
- 16GB DDR5 RAM (possibly from Crucial)
I've watched some tutorials online but I'd appreciate any insights or tips! Also, I realized there are different brands for the 5060; I'm curious about how the regular model compares to the 5060 Ti in terms of performance. Any thoughts on budget-friendly alternatives?
I play a lot of simulators and I'm looking to get a Logitech G923 wheel once the PC is built. Thanks for your help!

I’d definitely recommend going for 32GB of RAM. I had to upgrade mine because I found 16GB was just not cutting it for my needs. It’s especially important for CAD software which can be pretty memory-intensive. If you can wait a little longer to save up, it’ll be worth it in the long run!

Do you really think 32GB is necessary right now, especially with budget constraints?
