Hey all, I'm in a bit of a bind here. My WiFi card failed a while back, so I switched to a USB WiFi adapter that worked fine for about a year. However, now I'm facing some issues. The connection labeled "WiFi 2" (which corresponds to the USB adapter) keeps disappearing or is stuck in a disabled state, even when I try to enable it. I've exhausted a lot of options trying to fix this, including disabling the internal WiFi card, updating the adapter's driver, restarting my PC, and even doing a network reset. The one thing I can't do is reinstall the USB adapter driver since I don't have internet access at the moment. Any advice?

You might want to try connecting your device to your modem or router using an ethernet cable. This can provide internet access so you can download any necessary drivers. Also, sometimes the USB port can wear out, so if possible, give another USB port a shot. If it keeps failing, you might need to get the actual USB WiFi adapter replaced. What make and model is your computer?
You’re right about the adapter’s lifespan; they can wear down pretty quickly. If you do decide to replace it, consider grabbing a budget one for around $10 to see if that solves the issue. Just make sure to connect through your router, not directly to the modem.
Before replacing anything, double-check which chipset your USB adapter uses. It’s also worth trying a different USB port or adjusting some power settings for the adapter in your device manager. If it’s recognized there, you can right-click and remove it, then scan for hardware changes to reinstall the drivers automatically.
