How to Fix Hardware IO Error with Realtek PCIe 2.5GbE Controller?

Hey folks! I recently built a new gaming PC and everything is working great, except for one issue with the Realtek drivers. I'm having a problem with the Realtek PCIe 2.5GbE Family Controller. After a fresh Windows installation, the default driver seems to cause constant stuttering while I'm playing online games like Rust, Fortnite, and Valorant. I've tried several solutions:

- I uninstalled the driver and downloaded the one from the Asus drivers page;
- I also tried the Win11 Auto Installation Program (NetAdapterCx) from Realtek's site;
- Finally, I went for the Win10/Win11 Auto Installation Program (NDIS) from Realtek, which fixed the stuttering but still showed errors in the Event Viewer.

I noticed that when using the default drivers, the errors are from the source rt25cx21, while the NDIS drivers change it to rt640x64 and resolve the stutters.

I haven't tried completely disabling the driver to use Wi-Fi only yet, as I prefer Ethernet for better stability. Does anyone have a solid fix for this? I'm convinced it's a driver issue, not hardware, since there are workarounds, and the RMA process here isn't great.

It’s pretty common for networking adapters to need specific drivers from the motherboard manufacturer. You should definitely stick with the drivers right from Asus. They tend to have the tweaks necessary for stable connections. Just make sure to reinstall them if you decide to try again!

I did try that, but it still ended up with the same stuttering issue and errors showing up from rt25cx21.
