Hey everyone! I'm in the market for a used gaming PC and need some advice because my last experience wasn't great. I was looking at building my own setup with a 7700x, 9060xt, and 32GB DDR5 RAM for about $1300. But then I found someone selling a PC with a 5800x, 6950xt, and 32GB of RAM for $1100. They've only used it for a year, but I'm wondering if I should go for it since the specs seem a bit older. I'd love some input on whether buying this used PC is a smart move. Also, what should I check or do when picking it up? I've heard running games or benchmarks is a good idea. And are there parts I should consider replacing right away? I've read that used storage drives and PSUs can be risky. Appreciate any insights!

The specs you mentioned are still really capable, especially for 1440p gaming. At $1100, that's a decent price if it’s in good shape. When you go to see it, power it on cold to avoid noisy issues, and check it under load with a game or benchmark. For replacements, I’d suggest upgrading the hard drive and the power supply if it’s a low-quality brand—that’ll help longevity.
I just think for $1300 you could build a more powerful PC rather than settling for this used one, which is only $200 cheaper. Just my two cents!
I see your point, but I'm definitely weighing the value of used versus new considering budget and performance.
This is a solid deal! For $1100, you're getting a good setup. The 6950xt is still a fantastic GPU, and while the 5800x isn’t the latest, it performs well, especially for gaming at 1440p on ultra settings. I'd say go for it!
If everything checks out, you could try negotiating down to about $850. The GPU is worth a good chunk, and running stress tests with Prime95 or Furmark would help reveal any potential issues. Definitely do that!
Appreciate the tips! I’ll make sure to stress test before finalizing.

Great advice! I was wondering if I need a higher wattage PSU for those older components. Would around 1000-1200W be enough?
