How to Update BIOS When USB Drive is Not Detected?

Hey everyone! I've got a new CPU on the way because my current one is a bit outdated. My motherboard, the ROG STRIX B450 F, can support it, but I need to update the BIOS because I'm currently running version 3103, which is outdated for this new CPU.

I've watched videos that made it look easy: download the BIOS update, put the .cap file on a USB drive, boot into BIOS, then use the Asus EZ Flash 3 utility to select that file.

However, I've run into a problem. I successfully copied the .cap file onto the USB drive, but when I go into the BIOS to look for it, I can't find the USB drive at all. It's visible in the boot menu, but not in the EZ Flash utility.

Do I need to run the .exe file first or perhaps format the USB drive in a certain way? I'm not very experienced with BIOS settings—last time I tried, I ended up with my SSD being un-selectable. I really don't want to mess anything up irreversibly. Any help would be appreciated!

First things first, try formatting the USB stick. Make sure it's formatted to FAT32; that's usually the most compatible for BIOS updates. After formatting, just unzip the .cap file directly onto the main directory of the USB. If you do this, it should show up in the EZ Flash utility when you boot into BIOS.

What exactly should I change on the USB when formatting it? Is FAT32 the way to go from a fresh out-of-the-box state?
