Why is my Ethernet suddenly not working?

Hey everyone, I'm having a frustrating issue with my computer's Ethernet connection. It worked perfectly for about five months, but out of nowhere, it stopped functioning yesterday. Now, it shows 'Unidentified network' and I can't seem to connect to a DHCP server, as my IPv4 address starts with 169.254, which I understand means it's unable to find one. I've ruled out any problems with my router or cable since I tested my cable with my girlfriend's working Ethernet setup and it worked fine with hers. I've also tried different ports on the modem and router, but nothing seems to help. I'm running Windows 11 and I really need some assistance as I feel stuck. Thanks in advance!

Have you tried connecting another device with that Ethernet cable? Just to test if the cable is functioning properly? It sounds like it might be an issue with your computer if the cable worked fine on a different device.

Yes, I did. I plugged the same cable into my girlfriend’s computer, and it worked perfectly there!

First off, try running some verification checks. Open the command prompt as an admin and enter 'ipconfig /all' to check your network settings. If you can, post a screenshot of what you see there—it might give some clues about what's wrong.

Here's a screenshot of my ipconfig results: [View Screenshot](https://preview.redd.it/6ozc649zs8dg1.png?width=633&format=png&auto=webp&s=17ea225e37dbeed7d2db68e52b1ef956c0757658). Can you see anything unusual?
