I recently got a refurbished iPhone 14 and had no issues transferring all my stuff from my old iPhone SE, including my downloaded music that I purchased outside of iTunes/Apple Music. However, when I tried to add two new songs through iTunes, I was shocked to find that it wiped out my entire music library! I have all my music files saved on my laptop, but I'm worried about losing years of playlists and organization. Is there a way to recover my library, or will I have to start from scratch?

From what I know, iPhones can only have one source for syncing media, like your computer. If you switched computers, it might erase everything. Since you switched from an iPhone SE to the 14 but are using the same computer, it’s puzzling why this happened. Maybe when you tried syncing, iTunes got confused and just wiped everything out? It’s a bummer! You should check the sync settings to see if something's off there.
It’s rough that you lost your music! Since you have the files on your laptop, you can try to rebuild your library by importing them back into iTunes. Just drag and drop the files into iTunes or use the "Add to Library" option. As for your playlists, if they’re not backed up somewhere, you might have to recreate them manually, unfortunately. Make sure to check any backup sources you might have used too!
