Tips for Replacing My Power Supply Unit (PSU)

I'm planning to replace my power supply unit because I think my old one is failing; it's causing my PC to crash while playing certain games like Destiny 2 and PUBG. I've monitored the temperatures of both my GPU and CPU, and they seem fine. The new PSU I've got is the MSI MAG R750GL, while my old one was a Corsair 650. My current system consists of an Asrock Z590 A/C gaming motherboard, an RX6800 GPU, and an i7 10700KF CPU. When I install the new PSU, I will use only the new cables. Are there any important tips or potential issues I should be aware of before doing the installation? Any concerns about compatibility with older components or specific brands?

I'd echo what the others said about the cables! Avoiding splitters can really help in maintaining a solid power delivery. After replacing your PSU, it's a good idea to monitor system performance and temperature to ensure everything is running smoothly.

One thing to keep in mind is to use as many discrete cables as possible. For example, if your RX6800 needs two 8-pin connectors, make sure to use two separate cables instead of a single cable with a splitter. This helps prevent overloading and keeps your setup more stable.

Great advice on avoiding splitter cables! It’s essential to use separate cables for high power components. I'm glad I caught on to that before switching out my PSU. Also, once you replace your PSU, check if your games are still stable. Good luck with the installation!
