Looking to Buy My First PC – Need Some Guidance

Hey everyone! I'm about to dive into the world of PC ownership and I'm a bit overwhelmed. I'm considering buying or possibly building my first PC mostly for my brother. He's interested in playing older games but also wants to try some newer single-player titles like Clair Obscur, along with racing games like Forza and sports games like NBA 2K or EAFC.

I have a budget of around 375€ max. I've been eyeing PCs with a GTX 1660 Super or a GTX 1080 Ti, but I'm worried about whether those would be suitable after looking at game comparisons. Ideally, I'm hoping for something that can run newer titles around 60 fps on medium settings and last me a year or two.

I've also thought about buying a PC and swapping out the GPU for something like an RX 5600 XT or a RTX 2060 (or Super), but I'm not sure if that would bottleneck with the existing CPU (I've seen some Ryzen 5 options, but none of the 5600 ones). Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely check out the used market! With a budget of 375€, you’re probably looking at pre-owned parts, since building something new at that price is tricky. Make sure to verify the specs before you buy to ensure it can handle the games you mentioned.

Yeah, I totally agree! It’s really important to check local listings and get the full specs to see if the setup can run the games smoothly.

You might want to aim for PCs with a 20 series GPU or later, which will give you DLSS support. But it really depends on your local used market. Sometimes you can find great deals on 3070 builds around 600 USD, which is a big upgrade over a 2060 Super if you can stretch your budget a bit.

I’m in Germany too, and I’ve spotted some decent six-core CPU systems with GTX 980 or 1070 for around 350. Might be worth checking those out!
