I have an ASUS motherboard (P8H61 PRO), and when I'm in the BIOS, I often see options like "Save changes & Reset" or "Discard Changes & Exit" when I try to leave. I frequently adjust BIOS settings on my main PC and have never dealt with anything that required me to reset. I've heard that in this context, "reset" simply means to reboot the system. However, since this particular PC has many important files, I want to make absolutely sure that this won't cause any loss of data.

In this case, "reset" just refers to rebooting the computer, not a complete factory reset or anything that could wipe your files. You're good to go! Just save your changes, and the system will restart with the new settings.
It's likely that it says "Save changes and restart" but ASUS uses the term "Reset". So don’t worry, it's safe; it just means the computer will turn off and back on, not erase your data.
I thought so! Thanks for confirming that!

I tried that, and it just rebooted! Thanks for clarifying!
