Looking for Feedback on Simple Plant Management App Features

I'm thinking about creating a basic plant management app since my mom has started caring for plants and often asks about watering schedules. I've noticed many existing apps are quite complex with numerous features, which can be overwhelming. I'm aiming to build something straightforward that includes a plant list, watering reminders, basic notes, and possibly the option to add photos of the plants over time. If you've used any plant management or watering reminder apps, I'd love to hear your thoughts on what features you found useful and which ones seemed unnecessary or frustrating.

I've tested a few plant apps, and many try to do too much! The plant identification tools are often hit or miss, and the social features can feel forced. The reminder system and a log of watering times are the only things I genuinely found helpful. Photos over time could be nice, but I never kept up with it. Also, it’s frustrating when apps use AI to set watering schedules because every plant needs different care based on environment factors. Let users create their own schedules! And notifications should be flexible—no one needs constant reminders throughout the day. Just a simple message saying, 'Hey, your monstera needs water today,' is plenty. Your feature list looks solid; focus on making those core features really user-friendly. Maybe include a quick 'watered today' button in the notification so users can respond without opening the app?

Great suggestion! I definitely want my users to spend as little time in the app as possible, so adding a 'watered today' button directly in the notification would be ideal.

Your concept for a simple app sounds really promising! Simple tools age better, which is always a plus. Are you planning to keep it minimal over time?

Absolutely! I want it to stay straightforward and efficient. I believe in keeping things to the point, where users can come in, do a few quick actions, and be done. If I add features later, they’ll be designed to enhance usability without complicating things.

Honestly, I think I'd just prefer an app that lets me create a simple printable grid or list for watering my plants. Sometimes, I just draw it out on squared paper. It keeps things low-tech and straightforward!

Have you considered a hardware option? A system that can detect soil moisture and send a notification when a plant needs water could work really well. That way, you’d be notified before things get too dry. Just a thought!
