Is it safe to mix RAM modules from different brands if their specs match?

I'm considering adding another set of RAM to my existing setup. I currently have two sticks of 8GB XPG DDR4 3200MHz CL16 and I'm thinking about mixing them with another two sticks of 8GB TFORCE RAM that have the same frequency and latency. I'm wondering if this could cause any issues just because they're from different brands or if it should work fine?

It could definitely work! But there’s no way to predict it beforehand. You might have to manually adjust some settings if the auto-config doesn't give good results. Just give it a shot!

Ideally, RAM is sold in matched kits because they’re tested to work together. Mixing different brands can lead to issues, so maybe consider selling your current RAM and getting a matched kit instead.

You might not know for sure until you try it out. Interestingly, even if they're different brands, they could have the same core memory chips. However, compatibility can vary quite a bit.

Good point! I’ll keep that in mind, thanks for the insight!

In my experience, it usually works out fine, but it might require some tweaking. Just keep an eye on your system's stability after you mix them.

Absolutely, you can mix RAM from different brands as long as the specs match. Most of the time this works fine, but keep in mind there can be issues depending on the system.

I wouldn’t say it’s guaranteed to work without any quirks. Sometimes mixing can lead to problems.
