I'm trying to understand the advantages of using Azure NetApp Files compared to Azure Files. I've heard it's more expensive, so what are the real benefits that justify the cost? Thanks for any insights!

We use Azure NetApp Files mainly for our SAP production workloads and it’s been a lifesaver. Traditional NFS shares often lead to outages, especially during network disruptions. With Azure managing the shares, we don't have to worry about individual NFS servers failing or hanging, which makes managing our servers a lot smoother. If zero downtime is crucial for your app, this option has worked wonders for us!
If you’re dealing with 100TB or more, I suggest checking out Qumulo on Azure. It offers better performance at a lower price compared to Azure NetApp Files. Plus, it has local caching servers for fast access, something Azure files and NetApp don’t provide. It’s popular among users for good reason!
Check out the Microsoft documentation; it's pretty thorough. They compare Azure NetApp Files and Azure Files side by side, and you'll get a clearer picture of the differences and benefits. Here’s a link to the comparison if you want to dig deeper: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/files/storage-files-netapp-comparison
It really depends on your needs. If your application requires super quick access, Azure Files might not cut it, and that’s where Azure NetApp Files shines. It’s more about the specifics of what you're doing!

I was going to mention that too! They've really nailed the documentation. It's super helpful.
