Hey everyone! My boyfriend recently built a new PC, but it's been crashing unexpectedly, even while just sitting idly. The fans ramp up, the monitor loses connection, and he has to hard restart it by holding the power button. We've checked all the cables and even replaced the power cord, but the issue persists. Here are the specs I know: 5070 ti GPU, 7800X3D CPU, ICUE Link 360 Liquid cooling, Samsung 990 Evo Plus m.2, DDR5 Corsair Vengeance RAM, and an RMX Series RM850 PSU. What could be causing these random crashes?

It's essential to check the CPU and GPU temperatures. Overheating can lead to crashes, so make sure everything is running within a safe range. It doesn't sound like that's the issue based on what he said, but double-checking can't hurt!
Did he remember to peel off the plastic from the CPU cooler before installation? It sounds silly, but it can cause overheating, leading to crashes. Also, has he noticed if the crashes happen in the OS or in the BIOS?
Have you looked into the specifics of the RAM, like its speed, and how many sticks you're using? It might also help to run the system at base speed with EXPO disabled if you haven't tried that yet.
I was wondering about the power supply situation. When you say you swapped the old power supply cable, did that include trying out different connectors as well? Sometimes an old cable can create issues.
Have the RAM sticks been reseated? It might be a simple fix. If that wasn't done or if he hasn't tried using different ones, that could be the source of the problem.
