My GPU just died unexpectedly; it was loud, then I noticed a huge frame drop, and now the fan won't turn on at all. I was thinking about upgrading to a more powerful GPU, like the 5080, but right now financially, a 5070 Ti seems like a better fit for my needs. I considered replacing the fan since the rest of the GPU appears to work fine, but I'm wondering if that's a realistic option for a 5-year-old card and what the process might entail.
If I do go for a new GPU, I'll also need to upgrade my case to fit a larger graphics card and possibly the power supply as well. I'm using all DDR4 components, and PC Partpicker is suggesting some USB header adapters. Do I need those adapters for everything to work correctly? I could really use some advice as I'd like to get back into gaming with my friends soon!

If you're leaning towards the 5070 Ti, I would urge you to buy it sooner rather than later! They're ceasing production today, and prices for the 5080 will likely keep climbing. It might be a good signal to move on from your 3060 and embrace a new card!
You can definitely replace the fan on your GPU! If you’ve built a PC before, you should have no trouble finding guides online for your card model. I once replaced a fan on an older GTX 760, and I wish I'd done it sooner. Just take your time and be careful with the process!
Sounds like a good plan if you’re comfortable trying it out! Just make sure to follow a detailed guide and go slowly.
Regarding the USB header adapters, they're only for the front ports. Your USB A ports will still work, but the USB C port won't function since your motherboard lacks the necessary connector. If you don't use USB C cables now, you won’t miss out on much!
Phew, that’s good to know! I really don’t use USB C for anything on my current setup.

Yeah, I didn’t realize they were stopping production. Thanks for the heads up!
