I'm looking for some insight on what kind of salary to expect in the UK (excluding London) for a network/network security role. I have around 8 years of experience focusing on designing, configuring, installing, and managing switches, firewalls, and Wi-Fi setups, but only for companies with up to 100 users. I hold my CCNA certification, have worked as a Sophos firewall architect, and I'm also a Cyber Essentials assessor. What's the typical pay range for someone with my background?

I work as an IT manager/system admin in Central Brighton and I'm getting under £30k with 50 users. I’ve got five years of experience dealing with Cyber Essentials and implemented our network from the ground up. It seems like there’s a big variation depending on the specifics of the role and location.
From my experience, if you're consulting, you might be getting mid to upper £50s since you seem to be more towards senior level. If it’s an internal position, you could realistically expect around £47k to £50k.
Considering that you’re working mainly with smaller companies, I’d say salaries usually range between £32k and £50k. However, for the type of experience you have, you might be looking at around £38k to £43k if you're sticking with small businesses. If you move to a larger company that handles more enterprise-level tech, you could push closer to the £50k mark.
In my area, particularly North Staffordshire, the pay is probably around £40k to £45k. It's not too different from other regions.
