I'm wondering if it's possible to install Microsoft Word and Excel 2007 on Linux Mint. I have the Office 2007 package on an original CD, and I'm really accustomed to using it. While I know there's LibreOffice available, I'd really prefer to keep using my old Word. Can I get it to run on Wine or something similar?

It’s interesting—older Windows apps often have had more community support over time, so they usually run better than newer ones. Definitely give it a try!
For sure! Old Office versions like 2007 really do run well under Wine. Anything up to Office 2016 should work fine, but be cautious past that since Microsoft started enforcing restrictions. If you want an alternative, check out SoftMaker Office; it's quite similar!
Yes, you can install Office 2007 using Wine, and it generally works well for most users! You might find a good amount of info on it [here](https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?iId=4992&sClass=version).
I've installed Office 2007 through Wine before, but later switched to Crossover, which is a commercial version of Wine. If you're heavily using Excel macros, though, it might be better to run it in a Windows virtual machine instead, like with VirtualBox.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll definitely give it a shot.
