I just started using Linux about an hour ago, and I'm really loving it so far! I installed Linux Mint and I'm getting the hang of things, but I could really use some advice from more experienced users. I have an NVIDIA GPU, and I've come across some discussions about using NVIDIA's official drivers versus the open-source ones, although I'm not entirely sure about the differences. I think I have the gaming aspect pretty much sorted with Twine installed, but I'm curious if there's anything else I should check out for gaming or any other useful tips for a newcomer. Even the smallest advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

A lot of folks like Linux Mint for its simplicity, but it might not give you the smoothest experience out of the box. With NVIDIA drivers, things can get a bit tricky; I’ve heard that the ones pre-installed often work best. Linux Mint is more of a DIY distro, so you might find yourself Googling a lot. If gaming is your main goal, consider trying Cachyos. It’s user-friendly, has a GUI helper for updates, great gaming packages, and a fantastic wiki. Just follow its basic install prompts and you’ll get up and running quickly! Don’t let anyone discourage you from Mint, though—it's still powerful if you learn the ropes!
Make sure to use your package manager often to install software. Also, a little tip: don’t remove the "French language pack"—that one's a trap! Just enjoy exploring Linux!

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely check out Cachyos. I tried Arch at first, and it was a bit overwhelming, but I keep hearing good things about Mint!
