Trouble with BIOS After PC Freeze – Need Help!

I was gaming yesterday when my screen froze. I thought a simple restart would fix it, but my PC started showing no signal. I asked for help and was told to try another monitor and cable, which worked temporarily, allowing me to access the BIOS. However, I couldn't find my SSD in the boot priority. I was advised to disable Secure Boot, but after doing that, my display went completely dark and I couldn't see anything, including the BIOS. I tried resetting the CMOS, but I still get no signal. I also attempted to update the BIOS using Flashback, but that didn't help either. Here are my specs: RTX 4060, R5 5600X, 32GB Corsair DDR4 RAM, ASUS B450M-AII motherboard, and a 650W power supply. Any advice would be appreciated!

It sounds like your BIOS settings might be causing the trouble. Since you mentioned that you set Windows up yourself and initially installed it in UEFI mode, I recommend checking the BIOS configuration. Don't just toggle settings like Secure Boot randomly; reverting to how they were when you installed the OS is key. If your SSD isn't showing up at all in the BIOS, it might indicate a couple of possibilities: a malfunctioning drive or a Windows installation issue. Make sure to check if the SSD is physically connected properly too!

Given everything you've described, I'm leaning towards a failing SSD or potentially an issue with your motherboard or GPU. Try reseating the graphics card and the RAM too; sometimes, just a simple reconnection can do wonders. If possible, use another SSD or HDD to test whether the BIOS will recognize it. If you find it does, then your original SSD might be on its last legs. Good luck!

I feel your pain! It could be a few things. It’s super important to ensure that your SSD is detected in BIOS. Since your system used to show the SSD but doesn’t anymore, you might want to check cable connections or try a different SATA port. The fact that you lost the display signal after disabling Secure Boot might have no direct correlation, but it’s always good to revert to the default BIOS settings if you’re stuck. If you already did a CMOS reset and still see no signal, perhaps booting with minimal hardware could help—just the CPU, one stick of RAM, and onboard graphics (if available).
