Are There Good Alternatives to the 5800X3D for Upgrading?

I'm currently using an RX6600 paired with a 5600X and I have 32GB of RAM. My gaming mostly consists of older titles like Subnautica and Valheim, and I record gameplay using OBS. I'm starting to edit my videos with Davinci and want to enhance my video quality. However, I want to avoid jumping to AM5 and paying for DDR5, so I'm considering upgrading my CPU. I've looked into the 5800X3D and 5700X3D, but I'm hearing they're no longer being produced, making them hard to find and quite pricey. What are your thoughts on other AM4 processor upgrades?

The 5800X3D and 5700X3D are out of production, which explains the inflated prices. How much are you looking to spend, and where are you searching?

I could stretch my budget to around a couple hundred. Moving to AM5 sounds daunting since it means a new motherboard, CPU, and switching to DDR5 RAM, which adds up to about $500 for 32GB.

Honestly, the 5700X3D and 5800X3D prices don't seem worth it. You could sell your current AM4 setup and use that plus the amount you'd spend on a 5800X3D to build a solid AM5 system that will serve you well for longer. But if you're set on sticking with AM4, check if your games benefit from having 8 cores instead of 6. If they do, consider picking up a used 5700X, 5800X, or 5800XT and selling your 5600X; you probably won't lose much cash on that deal!

I've never bought used processors before. What should I consider?

I’m in a similar situation. I have a 5900X, and it's becoming a bottleneck for my 5070 Ti. I'm torn between grabbing a 5800X3D or going all-in on an AM5 setup to future-proof myself. With prices rising, I'm feeling the pressure to make a decision soon.

At what resolution are you gaming that the 5900X is being a bottleneck?
