Hey folks! I'm looking to upgrade my GPU from an RX 480 to a Powercolor 9070 XT Hellhound, but I'm uncertain if my current PSU will support it. My setup, which includes an R5 3600X, has the RX 480 that only requires one 8-pin connector, whereas the new GPU needs two 8-pin connectors. I'm not sure about my PSU model since it's an older EVGA unit, and I can't easily check its specs. I believe it's either 650 or 750 watts, which should be sufficient according to the PSU calculator, but I'm mainly concerned about the cable situation. I think I can use a 6+2 connector that's currently attached to the RX 480, but I want to be absolutely sure before I spend a lot on this upgrade. Any insights? Thanks!

Since you don't know the specs, I'd recommend just getting a new PSU anyway. It'll save you the hassle in the long run, and then you can just swap everything without worrying about compatibility. Get something reliable, like a Cooler Master or similar. They're solid choices.
Your PSU should suffice if it has the right number of PCIe cables, but you might want to invest a little extra for a new ATX 3.1 PSU for peace of mind. It really helps with stability if you're upgrading your GPU.
Unfortunately, without knowing your PSU model, it's hard to say for sure what cables it has. Ideally, you should have two 6+2 PCIe cables for the 9070 XT. If you can't identify the PSU, you might want to check your receipts or consider opening up your PC to look. It's safer that way!
I see your point. So using one 6+2 and one 8-pin together wouldn't work, right? Guess that means I should look into getting two proper cables.

Yeah, I’m leaning towards getting a Cooler Master Ncore 100 max and just moving on. Makes sense to play it safe!
