How Can I Keep My MacBook and iPhone on a Specific WiFi Channel?

Hey everyone, I'm really struggling with my internet connection lately and could use some advice. I've been using a xifintywifi hotspot for the past four months without any issues, but recently I can only get a stable connection at one end of my bedroom, and even then, it's pretty intermittent.

All my devices connect to the hotspot, but there's usually no internet available unless I'm in that one spot. I noticed that my devices often connect to various channels, except my MacBook keeps locking onto channel 157—very frustrating! Is there a way to force my MacBook and iPhone to stay off channel 157 and connect to a different one? Or is it possible that someone nearby is causing interference?

I'd really prefer not to invest in a modem since I'm doing a six-month internship and the xifintywifi pass is so affordable at $10. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Oh, and I usually use a VPN, but I've turned it off while troubleshooting this issue.

It’s usually not your devices that switch channels; it’s the WiFi itself that broadcasts on a certain channel. Are you sure there’s only one network available in your area? Sometimes multiple signals can interfere with each other. Just something to think about!

I don’t have access to the WiFi device, unfortunately. I’m not sure what you mean by multiple signals, as there’s only one xifintywifi network showing up.
