Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my current build, which has been serving me well for a while. I've got an Intel i9 9900K on a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master motherboard, with 16GB of DDR4 RAM and an MSI Ventus 3x 3090 GPU, plus some SSD storage. However, I'm feeling it's time for an upgrade since the component prices might be going up soon.
Here's what I've got planned for the new rig so far:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950x3d
- GPU: ASUS RTX TUF 5090 OC
- Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix x870E-E Gaming Wifi
- RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 (2x32GB)
- Storage: 1x m.2 Samsung 9100 Pro 4TB and 2x 1TB SATA SSDs
- Cooling: Multiple RGB fans and an AiO cooler
Now, I'm hitting a snag with the PSU. In my previous build, I had issues with shutdowns when gaming, likely due to inadequate power during high consumption. I've looked up several PSU calculators, and they all give varying recommendations: BeQuiet suggested 1300W at 86% utilization, CoolerMaster went for 880W, Seasonic said 1044W, and Corsair suggested 1256W.
I definitely want a PSU that supports ATX 3.1 and PCI 5.1, and it shouldn't struggle under full load since I use my PC for both gaming and heavy-duty tasks like rendering. Any advice on what wattage PSU I should get for my setup? Thanks a ton for any help!

I think a 1200W PSU should be solid for your setup. You might want to check out a PSU tier list to help you decide on a reliable brand.
I mean, 1000W should work for most scenarios with your setup. But if you're gaming and rendering, having a little extra power never hurts!
I recently went with 1000W for my setup with a 9800X3D and an RTX 4080, and it’s been great. I think around 1300W might be more power than you actually need.
You'd be fine with 1000W if you want to save a bit. Going for 1200W might be a decent overkill but it could give you that extra peace of mind.
If I were you, I’d choose a 1000W Lian Li PSU. They have great quality and should handle your rig without issues.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll definitely look at the tier list to find something good.
