I'm trying to decide between two options for my PC build. On one hand, I can get an R5 5500 bundled with an MSI B450M-A PRO MAX II Motherboard for $200 AUD. On the other hand, there's the R5 5600 paired with a Gigabyte B550M K Motherboard for $280 AUD if bought separately. I'm aiming for around 100 fps on low to medium settings for the game Arc Raiders. Which option offers the best value for my money, considering I'm hoping to upgrade my CPU?

The 5500 is similar in performance to the Ryzen 3600, which is a generation behind the 5600. While it might save you some cash now, the 5600 is worth the investment for gaming longevity. But if you're tight on budget, consider checking the used market as well.

I've never had much luck with used CPUs, but what about buying a used motherboard? Do they wear out significantly after a couple of years?
