I'm new to using Linux, and I switched from Windows primarily out of a dislike for certain corporations. However, I'm noticing that my gaming performance is significantly worse on Linux. For example, I could easily have multiple Firefox tabs open while playing games on Windows, but now I struggle to keep even one tab open without crashes. All my games need to be at super low settings to run, and even then, they crash frequently. For instance, SCP:SL won't load properly if the settings are too high, whereas I could play it on high settings smoothly on Windows. Other games like Arma 3 and Rust also have similar issues. I have a GTX 1650, a CPU with integrated graphics, 8 GB of RAM, and I believe my RAM might be causing some crashes. I already installed the NVIDIA graphics drivers, but I'm at a loss for what to try next to improve my gaming experience.

Before diving too deep into fixes, consider running a benchmark to evaluate your system's performance. It helps you see any improvements after making changes and can provide insight into what's going wrong. Just search for benchmarking tools available for your system.
Make sure to always mention your Linux distribution and hardware details if you're asking for help. Sometimes these specifics can greatly influence performance issues, and having that info handy makes it easier for folks to assist you.
It sounds like you might need to check your graphics drivers first. In Linux Mint, you can go to the Mint Menu and search for 'Driver Manager'. Once you open it, enter your password and let it scan for hardware. Look for the NVIDIA driver listed as 'proprietary, tested (recommended)' and apply that. After finishing the installation, reboot your system and see if that helps! Plus, updating your kernel to the latest version could improve performance too.
